CHICKEN IN A BASKET

Walking along the Trent and Mersey canal at Croxton Flash, Middlewich, Cheshire, I came across a strange sight. A canal boat was passing and I made the usual ‘good morning,’ and waved. The lady at the tiller and her two children smiled and waved back. Then I spotted a basket on the roof of the boat with what I thought was a furry toy sticking out. All of sudden it moved and I involuntarily shouted out, ‘what on earth is that?’

‘It’s the kids’ PET CHICKEN,’ she replied, to my astonishment. Eggstrordinary!
